Laguna BeachLaguna beach is the most unique of all the beaches in Orange County because it is not a solid strip of sand like all the others. There is a main beach for Laguna though, called, for obvious reasons, Main Beach. Main Beach is used more as a place to hang out than as an actual beach. There are basketball and Laguna Beach Main Beachvolleyball courts, which are almost always used for pickup games. The beach is almost always too crowded for body boarding, surfing, or skim boarding. This beach is mostly for the younger generation who enjoy laying out in the sun and socializing more than the actual beach aspect of it. Laguna BeachMain Beach is also the center of the town, with hundreds of art galleries, interesting stores, and quaint little restaurants. In both directions from Main Beach you will find endless coves backed by rocky precipices. There are dozens of beaches in these coves, all of which are typically much less crowded than Main Beach.Laguna Beach Resort Access to these coves is often hard to find, but chances are, if you pull into any neighborhood by the beach and walk towards the sound of water, you'll find them. These are great beaches for skim boarding because they are typically empty. On both sides of most of the coves you will typically find black or brownish rocks you can walk out onto. These sometimes reveal other coves that are not accessible by other means. If your at the beach, don't be afraid to explore around, you'll be amazed at what you see.
